So I'm changing to animation from games....

Journal Entry: Sat Nov 28, 2009, 3:53 AM

In 2010, will anyone else be enrolled in Animation at Griffith/QCA South Bank? I doubt anyone who's watching me, of course. But it would be awesome if one of you was all 'Haha, I totally am!' I'd get to meet you, and it would be awesome...

Ahem, why am I changing: Because I feel it will help me get where I want to get in this industry. I'm passionate about games, but more about the story than anything. I also love animation too. I'd love to end up at Pixar one day. Or in a games studio, either is fine with me.

So, will I see any of you there? :D

Art Trades: Closed.
Commissions: Open
Requests: Never unless I offer.

All dollars are in US dollars to avoid confusion.

Sketch (Digital, or traditional if you prefer) - $5
Cleanly Outlined - $10
Flat colour - $15
Shaded, no background - $25
Shaded, simple background - $30
Shaded with scene for background - $40

Extra character 50% off. (Or, one half.)

These prices are a rough guide, and are assuming my usual half realistic/half cartoony style. The more cartoony, the cheaper the price, and the more realistic, the steeper the price.

Basically, if you're confused like I am, just note me.

I have 0 slots open...

1 RonsoStryder
2 Viviane-Sea
3 Key-FeathersMLP

Waiting list (is infinite, I think):

Important:</b> "Spirit-sai" you were on my waiting list, but I can't get in contact with you. If you have a new account, please feel free to note me and you will get the top spot.

I've gotta get some better ref sheets done. XD Until then, here are some characters I like:
Ayem - ayem.deviantart.com/art/New-Ay…
Ivoncraft - ayem.deviantart.com/art/Ivoncr…
Azar (used to be Etch) - ayem.deviantart.com/art/Etch-B… ayem.deviantart.com/art/Azar-T…
Hopi - ayem.deviantart.com/art/Hopi-R…

Work on picture book - not much of a percentage complete. (Now I know why I went into games design and not children's book illustration XD)

Yeah, you did. :) Thought the games course is shaping up. It's just that for us that were the first to go through the course... we were kind of the guinne pigs, ya know?

mmm yeah true, it was like that for most of my classes at school too. -.- We were all guineapigs for new assessment that none of the previous years had, so theres was a few issues and bleh.

In my art course this year I got to do some animations, and I also did an assignment using the LittleBigPlanet editor for an interactive level. :D
Was pretty fun. Don't know what I'm gonna do know though. :P

'Grats on the switch :D

I probably should have done the animation degree too, but thats the bias of hindsight right? But I'm just going to try and plough through this last year and move onto bigger and better things!

Looking at the course outline for the 2010 kids coming into Games, it's certainly not a course I would pick now. Too much code and not 'nuff Art practice for an Art college degree :XD:

Mmm they promised us a lot of things. I've been there while they took highschool kids around to show them the uni, and Donna was saying that our degree focuses on Narrative and Art in games :O_o:

I felt like saying something, but I just grumbled to myself and kept working on mah stuff.

I've even been told that ZBrush is -just a hobby- and to focus on ActionScript! :pissedoff:

Is Griffith good?
Ive been looking into both Griffith and QUT haha

Animation, yes. Games, uh... not so much. Between QUT and Griffith, Griffith 100%. I can liken it to working in an actual animation studio. (Everyone's passionate about animation, they stay behind to work on things just for fun - and when things get too rough everyone goes crazy and decides to have a streamer throwing contest off the roof.)

Cool, on my games course some people have realised their talents lie elsewhere within the whole general area of games/movies/production so perhaps should have done another course, but it's all about the experience! Good luck :)

Computer Games Design in the art department, rather than the IT dep. Wouldn't fancy all that programming! It's cool cos we do character design, concept art, storylines and modelling etc, as well as coding small games and prototypes. Some people have found they prefer the project management side of things rather than the art and design though :)

It's not cool. D: I mean, I enjoyed it a little bit. SO a few programming subjects were cool with me. But we have it way too much.
I wanted to do game design to for the actual game design. Not really the art or programming. You know, what makes a game fun and all.

Yeah i get you, we do a bit of that but it could definitely be dealt with more thoroughly given it's meant to be a game design course! Hope you end up doing something you like anyways :)
